We offer (and encourage) our doulas the option of continued mentoring, wherever they are on their journey at £65 per session. We also have our free weekly Virtual Cuppa on zoom as well as a private Facebook group.

There are absolutely no requirements. Our doulas come from hugely varied backgrounds. If you have the skills to listen, be open-minded and supportive then the chances are you’d make an excellent doula. It doesn’t matter if you’d had children or not, what age you are or your personal circumstances. We are proud of our inclusive approach to all our doulas and treat everyone equally.

There are currently no regulations in place around working as a doula. We pride ourselves on our top notch training and we have full accreditation as a Doula UK course provider. As such we adhere to the Doula UK Code of Conduct & Philosophy.

As part of your course we will cover business and marketing. Your facilitator will have experience in working as a doula and we will help you work our a plan of action. The demand for doula support is growing all the time.

Any doula can tell you that every job brings something different and birth is very unpredictable. During your training you will be working through different “scenarios” designed to challenge your response to different situations and to use the skills you’ll be working on. We cover many different topics, including loss, multiple births, cultural differences and feeding issues.

We are purely a birth & postnatal doula training company and a big part of our course looks at the boundaries of working as a doula and how to wear “other hats” when trained in other areas. We have wonderful relationships with other training course providers which we can sign-post to if you want to broaden your skills.

There are no extra costs involved in your training. Your course fee includes everything you need, your manual, your mentoring session/s and certification. You will have a free 12 month directory listing included with your certification with the option of continuing your listing for £5 month

We currently run Intensive courses in various UK locations including London, Bristol, Exeter & Leeds. If you would like a course near you please ask us and we will look into running one wherever there is enough demand. All our Expansive courses are currently run in London. Both courses are also run online.

The Intensive course is 4 days long with coursework, this work can be completed within 6 months of the course but can be finished much sooner if you are able to complete it quicker. The Expansive course runs across 4 months with further online work to complete. we find our doulas all work at very different paces but you could potentially complete your training within 6-9 months. You co not need a certificate to start your doula journey so you can take clients as soon as you feel ready.

This is a tricky question as it can vary depending on location but we feel the role of the doula is an important one, a demanding one and has a great impact in society. As such we encourage our doulas to think very carefully about pricing themselves accordingly. We will help you to see your worth and set your fees accordingly. We can sign-post you to wonderful resources around money, fees and how to charge for your services.

The short answer to this is no. However, we encourage all doulas to include mentoring in their future practice and to remain within the NB family by attending the Virtual Cuppa and engaging in the Facebook group. We also encourage continued professional development and research so we are able to signpost our clients to the most up to date and respected resources.

We have an extensive manual which all our doulas will receive as part of their training. it is jam-packed full of supporting information and resources around all the topics we cover including a business section.

We are often asked this and the answer is no. Even if you only plan on working postnatally the skills, topics and scenarios we teach around the antenatal period and birth are extremely valuable and we feel they will always be relevant whether a doula plans on supporting births or not.
