Mentoring
“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself. A mentor is someone who allows you to know that no matter how dark the night, in the morning joy will come. A mentor is someone who allows you to see the higher part of yourself when sometimes it becomes hidden to your own view.”
– Oprah Winfrey
For any doula at any stage of the doula journey we want to nurture you and give you a safe space in which to be heard, supported and affirmed.
On-going mentoring is beneficial to anyone working as a doula. As we support families we can be supported ourselves.
Mentoring is about creating a trusted relationship with someone who has already ‘walked the path’. It is a valuable space to reflect and review where we have come from, where we are now and where we hope to be.
Our mentoring has been developed to give doulas the opportunity to expand, develop and gain confidence.

How Nurturing Birth mentoring works
When you sign up you will be supported to choose a mentor from our team. Our team is made up of experienced doulas who have all been trained to be mentors and undergo regular mentoring themselves.
Each mentoring session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. Doulas are asked to submit a form to their chosen mentor in advance of the session so that the mentor can prepare.
Mentoring costs £75 per session (£65 if you are a Nurturing Birth doula).
Payment is made direct to the mentor of your choice prior to your session.
We recommend all doulas schedule regular mentoring, suggesting quarterly sessions.

Here are a number of our mentoring team sharing their passion, enthusiasm and experience of mentoring.
Why bother?
- We are constantly growing and evolving in our doula practice.
- No two client experiences are the same.
- It is always beneficial to have somewhere to explore the impact of our work on home life.
- Mentoring is more intentional and doula-led than a chat with a colleague or friend.
- Why not?!
